Podcast
Introduction
As part of my studies in Digital Marketing, I explored podcasting as a marketing and communication tool. The project involved researching current podcast trends, developing a podcast concept, creating a manuscript, recording and editing a podcast, and producing a promotional audiogram for social media.
Through this project, I gained practical experience with audio content production and learned how podcasts can help businesses build trust, share expertise, and connect with their audiences in a more authentic way.
Podcasting in 2026: The Trends Small Businesses Need to Know
Podcasting has evolved from a niche form of entertainment into a powerful marketing and communication tool. For businesses, podcasts provide an opportunity to share expertise, build trust, and connect with audiences in a more personal way than many other digital channels.
What makes podcasting particularly interesting is its ability to combine storytelling, education, and relationship-building. Rather than competing for a few seconds of attention on social media, podcasts allow businesses to engage listeners for longer periods and create stronger connections over time.
As part of my Digital Marketing studies, I developed and produced a podcast exploring some of the key trends shaping podcasting in 2026. The episode focuses on how small businesses can use podcasting as part of their marketing strategy and examines the opportunities created by niche content, authenticity, video podcasts, and AI-assisted production.
Throughout the project, I worked with the entire production process – from research and manuscript development to recording, editing, and creating a promotional audiogram. This provided valuable insight into how podcast content is planned, produced, and distributed across different platforms.
You can explore the manuscript, teaser, and final podcast below.
Creating the Teaser
To promote the podcast, I created a short audiogram based on a selected clip from the episode. The goal was to capture the listener’s attention and provide a quick introduction to the topic before encouraging them to listen to the full podcast.
The teaser was produced using Get Audiogram, which allowed me to combine audio, subtitles, and visual elements into a short video suitable for social media. By selecting a key section from the podcast and adding automatically generated captions, I transformed an audio-only format into content that can be consumed even without sound.
This process demonstrated how podcast content can be repurposed across different platforms and highlighted the importance of adapting content to suit different audience behaviours and channels.

Creating this podcast involved much more than simply recording audio. The project began with researching current podcast trends and identifying a topic that would be relevant to small businesses. From there, I developed a structured manuscript, selected supporting sources, and planned the episode using the podcast preparation model introduced during the course.
The production process included recording and editing the episode in Audacity, adding intro and outro music, and refining the audio to create a clear and engaging listening experience. To support promotion across digital channels, I also created an audiogram teaser, transforming a section of the podcast into a short video with subtitles suitable for social media.
Through this process, I gained hands-on experience with podcast planning, audio production, content repurposing, and digital storytelling. The finished podcast explores the trends shaping podcasting in 2026 and reflects on how small businesses can use podcasts as part of their marketing strategy.
